LILBURN, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Police have arrested a Lawrenceville man accused of impersonating a police officer and trying to pull over a driver.

The victim, 30-year-old Jason Milczek, told police he was followed by a black Ford Explorer in the area of Five Forks Trickum Road and Killian Hill Road in unincorporated Lilburn on Nov. 13. The person behind the wheel of the Explorer activated blue lights mounted on his dashboard and tried to get Milczek to pull over.

Milczek told police he didn't pull over because his gut instinct told him the Explorer driver wasn't really a police officer. Instead, he called Gwinnett Police.

While Milczek was on the phone, he ran out of gas and pulled over. That's when he said the driver of the Explorer threw an empty soda bottle at his car and drove away.

Milczek gave police the Explorer's tag number, which was registered to a vacant house. Police spotted the car in Lawrenceville on Nov. 21 and pulled it over for a window tint violation in the area of Davis Road and Sugarloaf Parkway.

The driver of the Explorer was identified as 19-year-old Josue Cruz-Ayala. Police determined that he installed a dash light similar to the lights on police cars.

Cruz-Ayala was arrested and taken to the Gwinnett County Jail.
