Norcross Clean-Up and Recycling Event Planned

City of Norcross, GA - October 15, 2011, is this year’s fall recycling event in Norcross’ downtown area. Five sites near City Hall stage opportunities for recycling paint and electronics, and shredding documents. In addition, city officials are asking visitors to donate to the “CAN” Do for Hunger Food Drive, a county-wide initiative to fill the shelves of local food pantries.

Clean-up Day is a great reason to clean out garages and basements – throw out anything that’s not a hazardous material. (Open to City of Norcross residents only – new location – the Public Works Barn located at 345 Lively St.) 8am to 3pm. This event is free.

Electronics Recycling means pack rats can get rid of old cell phones, computers and keyboards without guilt! Atlanta Recycling Solution and city volunteers will be on hand to help unload your items.  For a complete list of what can be recycled, visit the City website and look on the flyer.  This event is open to the public, and will be held at the Norcross Cultural Arts & Community Center, 10 College Street, 9 am – 1 pm.  This event is free except for the following - NOTE:  ACCEPTING TELEVISIONS (EXCEPT CONSOLE AND PROJECTION) FOR A $10.00 FEE.

Shredding Event is an opportunity to safely dispose of important documents without taking up space in local landfills. American Security Shredding will again have their on-site shred truck.  Watch materials being shredded on the video display monitor – be green and secure at the same time! This event is open to the public and is free.  Location: Norcross City Hall, 65 Lawrenceville Street, 9am – 1pm or until truck is full.

Paint Recycling is a great way to get rid of those half-empty cans of useless paint. Williams Paint Recycling is working with Norcross to divert paint from landfills and water sources.   Clean-out your basement, garages, and storage facilities of all your old unused paint - this event is open to the public and located in the parking north side of City Hall.  NOTE: Recycling fee: quart/gallon container $1.00 – 5-gallon container $5.00. Proceeds benefit Co-op MinitriesFood Pantry.

2011 “CAN” Do for Hunger Campaign is a collection of canned and non-perishable goods for our local food banks! Clean out your pantry and donate to local food banks for members of the Norcross community.  Recycling day participants are asked to bring canned or non-perishable goods to support the 2011 “CAN” Do for Hunger Campaign.
