(WXIA) -- The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a flash flood warning for several metro Atlanta counties.
The warning includes northern DeKalb County, east central Fulton County and all of Gwinnett County.
It is in effect until 2 p.m. Friday.
The NWS said a thunderstorm that passed through the area caused creeks and streams to rise. Two bodies of water greatly affected by the flooding include Sweetwater Creek in Lilburn and Stone Mountain Creek in Stone Mountain.
Other locations included in the warning are Berkeley Lake, Dacula, Duluth, Dunwoody and Lawrenceville.
Residents are reminded not to drive their vehicles through areas where the water covers the road, as it may be too deep to allow cars to pass safely.
