GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A Gwinnett County elementary school teacher was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday morning.

It happened shortly after 7 a.m. in the area of Hewatt and Martin Nash roads.

According to investigators, the woman was driving a passenger car north on Hewatt Road when she crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a pickup truck going in the opposite direction.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Michele Pihera said the car driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as 41-year-old Nichole Riley, of Snellville. She was a teacher at Alford Elementary School, according to police.

The male pickup truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were alone in their respective cars.

The accident is under investigation.
