Gwinnett 911 center evacuated

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett County's 911 center was evacuated Monday morning. The evacuation was ordered just before 10 a.m., when material from a waterless fire suppression system was triggered. The cause of the system activation is under investigation.

A tile also reportedly fell out of the 911 center's ceiling and hit an employee on the head.

Five 911 center employees were taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated for respiratory issues, according to Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter. Those employees were released by Monday evening.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Michele Pihera said 911 service continued with "little to no disruption." Operations were moved to police headquarters and the Mobile Operations Center.
