Its the 6th Annual Gwinnett International Restaurant Week

The GCVB is pleased to announce that Monday, September 19-Thursday, September 22, 2011 will be the dates of the 2011 Gwinnett Restaurant Week. Now in its 6th year, this popular dining promotion features 20 participating restaurants, each of whom offers a three-course meal for just $21.21 (plus tax/gratuity). “Great meals and a great deal; that is kind of our motto for Gwinnett Restaurant Week,” explains Lisa Anders, GCVB Deputy Director. The restaurants have created delicious and creative Restaurant Week menus, where you can experience Gwinnett’s most popular restaurants at a substantial savings.

Anders is excited about this year’s mix of restaurants, noting that “the large majority of our restaurants are independent restaurants, and we worked very hard this year to expand the ethnic opportunities for diners.

The GPCA Challenges Other Associations to Join the Fight to Cure Blood Cancer

The GPCA Challenges Other Associations to Join the Fight to Cure Blood Cancer

Valera Jessee, Executive Director of the Georgia Pest Control Association (GPCA) challenges other non-profit associations to come together in support of the Light The Night Walk. "The Light The Night Walk brings together members in a friendly competition and supports the communities from which we draw our livelihood", said Jessee.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) relies heavily on funds raised through the GPCA. Since 2004, member companies of the GPCA have raised over $708,000. The goal this year is to raise another $100,000. What is unique about this partnership is that companies competing to eliminate your pest problem are joining forces for the common good.

DOWNTOWN: Georgia commemorates Sept. 11 attacks

ATLANTA (AP) - Gov. Nathan Deal held a moment of silence for victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, which took place 10 years ago this Sunday.

IN DEPTH: How 9/11 Changed America

Deal led a brief memorial ceremony at the state Capitol Friday, flanked by Georgia's Chief Justice Carol Hunstein and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle.

Deal also paid tribute to members of the military that have served in the wars that have taken place since the attacks on New York and Washington.

Deal did not speak to reporters. Spokesman Brian Robinson said the state is taking increased security precautions due to the anniversary, but he said there has been no mention of Georgia as a potential target.

Flags will be flown at half staff at all Georgia government buildings through sunset on Sunday.
