ATLANTA – Tired of dinner and a movie? Looking to spice up your dating life in the New Year? Well, we’ve got some new ideas for you.

Karaoke at Pal’s Lounge

Explore the Historic Sweet Auburn district of downtown Atlanta at Pal’s Lounge on Auburn Ave. According to some, the restaurant is the epitome of a “juke joint”; Pal’s is a dimly-lit, vintage storefront bar complete with “burglar bars”, a genuine spirit and a cute door lady. On Wednesday nights, the lounge hosts their popular, YO! Karaoke event which is well attended and a guaranteed good time. Pal’s boats a full bar and enough tunes to sing yourself into oblivion, take a date. They’re located at 254 Auburn Ave in O4W.

Holeman and Finch Burger

If you’re looking for an experience to remember, take your date to Holeman & Finch for a burger. Every night, the restaurant assembles 24 succulent, signature double patty cheeseburgers served on artisan Holman and Finch buns; some people, even, line up outside of the restaurant, early, to ensure they get a piece of the exclusive confection. The burger is served at 10 p.m. and it’s, of course, served alongside hand-cut fries, homemade ketchup, mustard and pickles. The restaurant is located at 2277 Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

Rock Climbing

Take your date climbing at the “most popular indoor rock climbing gym in the Southeast”, Atlanta Rocks! The gym is home to more than 12,000 square feet of “professional climbing surface”. Climbers can call and reserve a lesson with the Novice Climb program which is a two-hour, supervised program and perfect for couples. Spaces are limited and all climbers must pay a non-refundable fee of $25 per person. Atlanta Rocks! is located at 1019 Collier Road in NW Atlanta.

Salsa Dancing

Take a trip to America del Sol, if only for a couple of hours, with tapas and salsa at Eclipse de Luna. The restaurant is tucked away in Miami Circle and it’s known as one of the “best-kept secrets in the city”. On Thursday nights the restaurant goes from 1 to 100, late-night revelers join the crowd, dance the night away and enjoy the live band. Complimentary samba and salsa instructors are on hand to teach the tricks of the trade from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. but the party doesn’t stop until 11. Check them out at 764 Miami Circle in Buckhead.

Hookah and Indian Fare

Blow some sheesha smoke and taste traditional Indian cuisine at Divan Restaurant and Hookah Lounge. The lavishly decorated restaurant offers tons of hookah flavors to compliment your dinner. Dine on falafel, basil-mint, curry and saffron and take your taste buds to another level at one of the coolest restaurants in Atlanta. The restaurant accommodates private dining or lounge dining.  Try it out with your special someone for a night they won’t soon forget. Divan is located at 3125 Piedmont Road in Buckhead.

Dinner and a Movie

For a non-traditional movie date, take your date to one of the new “Dinner& a Movie” concept restaurants, CineBistro for the inTown crowd and Studio Movie Grill for the OTP crowd. CineBistro is a more classic, in-theatre dining experience with “ultra-luxurious” accommodations, a full bar and wine list and roomy leather rocking chairs. Studio Movie Grill has a different feel than CineBistro and screens more “mainstream” theatre movies. The theatre, also, offers private screens for a special date, girl’s night out or, even, a party. CineBistro is located at 1004 Town Boulevard. Studio Movie Grill is located at 2880 Holcomb Bridge Road in Alpharetta.

Test your BINGO skills at Galla’s Pizza in Chamblee, every Thursday. BINGO starts at 7 p.m. and there are seven chances to win. Galla’s calls itself the “neighborhood pizzeria” and for what you pay, according to some “it’s a darn good pie”. The restaurant serves salads, sandwiches, pizzas and a number of domestic and imported beers. Galla’s is located at 4849 Peachtree Road in Chamblee.

The king of all Atlanta bowling alleys, Midtown Bowl, is more of a party than a place to bowl. It has been open since 1960 and is usually pack with party people and the “inTown” crowd. The bowling alley features 32 lanes, a full bar and loads of fun. Lanes cost $35 per hour on Friday and Saturday nights from 5 p.m. until close. Midtown Bowl closes at 3 a.m., daily, for the late night crowd and shoe rental is always $4.63. Midtown Bowl is located at 1936 Piedmont Circle NE in Atlanta near the US-13 entrance.

Couples can go to the farm and pick their own food for dinner, perhaps. Heritage Farms harvests a number of fruits and veggies but they’re well known for their cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes and watermelons. They, also, raise Grass-Fed Beef, Lamb, Goat and pasteurized poultry. The farm offers tours of the grounds and tours led by the Master Gardener. Visit them at 205 Day Road in Bowdon.
