Four Teens Shot During "Sweet 16" Party

Snellville, GA -- Gwinnett County Police are looking for the gunman who fired a rifle into a sweet 16 birthday party on Loch Ness Lane near Snellville on Saturday night.

Four teens were shot and another was grazed by shrapnel, but they're all expected to be okay. Only one victim remained at Gwinnett Medical Center by mid-day Sunday. The victims range in age from 15 to 17.

As many as 60 people were at the home when police arrived at about 11 p.m. Police found more than two dozen shells and shell casings scattered in the street.

"The house was shot up, and people were shot," said witness Terrance Flowers. "It's been a crazy night."

Witnesses gave police different descriptions of the gunman. They said he was an uninvited guest who arrived with a rifle. He stayed outside and aimed into the house.

"There was just a bunch of chaos," said witness Aaron Jones. "A couple of people were arguing, then I heard gunshots and everything escalated."

Police used K-9 units to search the area but did not find the gunman.

"There may be a connection to gang activity and drug activity at this time but no solid connections can yet be made," said Cpl. Jennifer Roberts, a spokeswoman for the Gwinnett Police Department.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5300.

Police said the party was being chaperoned by a parent, and alcohol was not a factor.
