FOOD REVIEW: America’s Top Dog, Chamblee GA

When we arrived, we were greeted by a man I could only assume was the owner. He had spotted us as first-time customers and proceeded to educate us about the menu. What was revealed to us is that their menu embodies how hot dogs are eaten not only around the U.S., but around the world.

Coast Not Quite Clear - Watch for Black Ice

ATLANTA -- Mother Nature gave Metro Atlantans a bit of a break Friday, with the longest stretch of above-freezing temperatures since Sunday's storm.

Temperatures will get back above freezing by midday Saturday, allowing road conditions to continue to improve. Daytime temps will go well into the 40s for Saturday and Sunday, while lows Saturday night will only briefly drop below freezing.

The Georgia Department of Transportation says most main roads and highways in North Georgia are now passable, but icy patches remain, particularly on side streets and in neighborhoods. To report hazardous road conditions or traffic signal problems within the City of Atlanta, call 404-546-2615 or 404-853-3200.

MARTA, Gwinnett Scale Back Bus Service

ATLANTA  -- MARTA is operating on a limited schedule today with only 12 routes running because of icy conditions on roads throughout the Atlanta area.

Service will run until 1:30 a.m., but riders should expect delays on all routes.

Rail service will remain on a Saturday-Sunday schedule ending at 12:30 a.m.

As for what the future holds, MARTA's deputy GM tells 11Alive's Matt Pearl they expect to be running on a full weekday schedule by Tuesday, Jan. 18. They expect to run at a normal weekend schedule -- at least for the rail service -- from now until that date. At this point, much of the bus service depends on the roads.

Gwinnett County Officials give a County Update

Gwinnett County, GA--  (submitted by Gwinnett County Government)

This has been one of the more significant snow and ice events Gwinnett has experienced in many years in terms of volume of snow and ice on the roads in combination with below-freezing temperatures. Despite the colder temperatures expected over the next few days, the sun, low humidity, and wind are expected to help accelerate the natural evaporation and melting process.

The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation has been responding to weather-related road conditions since the winter storm hit metropolitan Atlanta on Sunday evening. The department has been primarily cooperating with and assisting the County's emergency personnel and crews, which have responded to icy conditions on major thoroughfares and collector streets.

The Roads are Open; We Have Your Traffic Information at 11Alive.com

All the roads in Metro Atlanta are open today. You need to pack a huge load of patience while you get going though. There are many delays out there. For details on particular routes, check http://11alive.com/traffic.

ALL INTERSTATES & MAIN ROUTES are open.

The left lanes have ice in them. Stay out of those left lanes. Assume that all overpasses have ice on them; many have glaze ice that you will not be able to see until you are on them.

ALL of the on and off ramps have ice in them. Approach them slowly and carefully. If you speed onto an offramp or try to turn suddenly, you will slide and crash.

ARTERIAL/MAIN STREETS --

All have some ice on them. Most with three lanes ordinarily are down to two; most with two lanes regularly, are down to one lane.

FOOD REVIEW: Doc Green’s Gourmet Salads & Grill, Lawrenceville GA

We were a little skeptical of Doc Green’s as every time that we’d been by there it seems as if no one is there. We are pleased to report though that there is much to discover there!

As many others are trying to eat healthier this new year, so are we. Snowpocalypse was coming and we were craving one more meal out before the quarantine before and we would soon be cut off from the outside world for who knows how long.
